The Tenth House: Profession, Authority & Public Glory

The Tenth House, known as Karma Bhava or Rājya Sthāna, is the highest point in the horoscope—the zenith where destiny becomes visible to the world. It reveals the native’s profession, status, authority, and public legacy.

Just as the Sun reaches its maximum brilliance at noon, planets placed in the 10th house shine with maximum karma shakti.

The ancient text assigns the following domains to the Tenth House:

Rituals, charity, duty, and social responsibilities—including the work that shapes one’s legacy.

E. Body Part

The knees, symbolizing responsibility and the weight one must carry.

A strong 10th house elevates even a weak horoscope. A weak 10th house can cripple the promise of an otherwise strong chart.

2. Results of Planets in the Tenth House

Planets placed here act publicly—their strengths and flaws are visible to the world. They shape the native’s profession, achievements, and societal contribution.

A. Amala Yoga

Formed when a natural benefic (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury) occupies the 10th house from Lagna or Moon.

B. Dharma–Karmādhipati Yoga

Occurs when:

  • the 9th Lord (Dharma) and

C. Sannyāsa Yoga

If four or more planets gather in the 10th House:

  • If the 10th lord is strong → renown as a spiritual master or world teacher.

  • If the 10th lord is weak → downfall of profession, wandering life, or renunciation.

“When timing career, do not judge only from the Lagna.
The 10th from the Moon is equally important.

  • The Lagna shows actual karma.

  • The Moon shows mental inclination and the type of work one enjoys.”

He also adds:

  • Saturn in the 10th, though feared by many, is excellent for judiciary, administration, and public service.

  • Rahu in the 10th is common in successful politicians as it grants mass influence.
