Chapter 35: Chandra Daśā Phala

Results of the Moon’s Major Period

Duration: 10 Years
Governed Domains: Mind, Emotions, Mother, Fluids, Popularity, Travel, Comfort

Of all the planets, the Moon (Chandra) has the most immediate influence on human life because it rules the Manas—the mind. Thus, its ten-year period is marked by emotional fluctuations, shifts in residence, changes in environment, and a heightened sensitivity to relationships.

The Moon’s daśā tends to “activate” whatever lies dormant within the heart.

1. General Outcomes of Moon Daśā

The results of Moon Daśā vary dramatically depending on whether the Moon is waxing or waning.

🌕 Waxing Moon (Śukla Pakṣa) — Strong Moon

A strong Moon blesses the native with:

  • Mental peace and clarity

  • Acquisition of pearls, silver, white garments

  • Tasty food and comforts

  • Affection from women

  • Popularity and social recognition

The native becomes emotionally generous and enjoys domestic harmony.

🌘 Waning Moon (Kṛṣṇa Pakṣa) — Weak Moon

A weak or afflicted Moon brings:

  • Lethargy and oversleeping

  • Anxiety, mood swings, or emotional fragility

  • Cold, cough, and Kapha disorders

  • Quarrels with the mother

  • Financial loss through emotional decisions

The mind becomes reactive and easily disturbed.

2. Results Based on Moon’s Strength

Condition of Moon Predicted Daśā Results
🌟 Strong Moon (Exalted in Taurus, Own Sign Cancer, or a bright Moon in Kendra) Comfort & Stability. Wealth through liquids, agriculture, dairy, shipping, or public work. Strong family bonds. Social popularity. Peaceful home life.

4. Translator’s Commentary (Dr. U. S. Pulippani)

“During Moon Daśā, judge the horoscope from the Moon sign.”

Dr. Pulippani stresses that the Moon becomes a temporary Lagna (ascendant) during its daśā.

  • Houses, strengths, and yogas should be re-evaluated from the Moon.

  • This explains why some people experience Moon Daśā very positively even if their Lagna chart seems weak.

The Moon governs change; hence relocations, house shifts, emotional redefining, and family transitions are extremely common.
