Chapter 48: Chakra & Vedha Phala Adhyaya

Results of Special Diagrams & Obstructions

Key Themes: Sarvatobhadra Chakra, Kalanala Chakras, Transit-Vedha, Predictive Geometry

After mastering Dasas, Transits, Ashtakavarga, and Upagrahas, Jātaka Sāra Dīpa presents the final set of precision tools—Chakras.
These are not ordinary charts but esoteric diagrams used to detect immediate events such as danger, illness, accidents, financial fluctuations, and even death.

This chapter is the bridge between mathematics and intuition in Vedic astrology.

1. Sarvatobhadra Chakra

(The Universal Diagram)

The Sarvatobhadra Chakra (SBC) is the crown jewel of predictive astrology in South India. It is used for:

  • Transit analysis

  • Names & Nakshatra-based predictions

  • Mundane astrology (death of rulers, wars)

  • Financial market timing

  • Health and surgery timing

Structure

It is a square grid composed of:

  • 27 Nakshatras

  • 12 Rasis (Zodiac signs)

  • 16 Sanskrit vowels

  • 20 Sanskrit consonants

This makes the SBC an “all-inclusive” diagram—hence Sarva-to-bhadra (good for everything).

Method of Use

  1. Mark the transiting planets on the grid.

  2. Identify the Birth Nakshatra, Ascendant Nakshatra, and Name Letter of the native.

  3. Observe the directional rays cast by planets.

The Principle of Vedha (Piercing)

A planet casts rays horizontally, vertically, and diagonally across the grid.

  • Benefic Vedha: Removes obstacles, grants luck.

  • Malefic Vedha: Causes danger, loss, humiliation, or disease.

Example:
If Saturn’s ray pierces the Nakshatra linked to your name syllable, the result is public defamation, even if your Dasa is excellent.

Utility:
SBC is unparalleled for predicting:

  • Travel risks

  • Imminent illness

  • Political upheavals

  • Commodity price changes (gold, grains)

Astrologers often refer to it as the “real-time radar” of the horoscope.

2. Kalanala Chakras (The Fires of Time)

These are specialized diagrams mapping the 27 Nakshatras onto symbolic body-forms of Sun, Moon, or Ghora (Death). They are used for detecting danger, timing surgery, and identifying life-threatening periods.

A. Surya Kalanala Chakra

Used to judge the Sun’s influence.

Interpretation

Where your Birth Nakshatra falls on the Sun’s symbolic diagram:

  • Mouth: Fear, danger, loss of status

  • Heart/Chest: Gain of wealth or honor

  • Feet: Travel, relocation

  • Arms: Effort, battles, physical strain

Used for:

  • Predicting days of government confrontation

  • Solar-related illnesses

  • Identifying dangerous travel periods

B. Chandra Kalanala Chakra

Used for Moon-related predictions.

Applications

  • Fluid retention problems

  • Mental disturbances

  • Surgery timing

  • Travel safety

  • Mother’s health

It is especially important in medical astrology because Moon rules blood, fluids, and emotional balance.

C. Ghora Kalanala Chakra

The most feared diagram.

Purpose:

To detect immediate danger to life.

Method:

If the transiting Sun or Moon occupies the “burning sectors” corresponding to the native’s Birth Nakshatra, the text states:

“The native faces Ghora Yoga—danger, calamity, or life-threatening events.”

Used with discretion, it accurately reveals:

  • Hospitalization

  • Accidents

  • Sudden fevers

  • Life-threatening episodes

3. Tri–Tri–Vedha Chakra

(Three-by-Three Obstruction Matrix)

This is a simplified Chakra used for detecting Vedha (planetary obstruction).

Concept

Every Nakshatra has a “facing” Nakshatra.
If Planet A occupies Star X and Planet B occupies Star Y (the opposing star), one planet blocks the other.

Applications

  • Marriage matching

  • Daily predictions

  • Short-term difficulties

  • Love compatibility

Practical Use in Marriage:
If the groom’s star is attacked (Vedha) by a malefic star linked to the bride’s chart, the marriage is considered inauspicious—regardless of matching points.

4. The Nara–Nari Chakra (Man–Woman Diagram)

An exclusive technique referred to by Nrusimha Daivajna.

Function:

Predicts the marital fate of a couple.

Principle:

The Birth Stars of the man and woman are placed within a Chakra.

  • If both fall in harmonious sectors → long, supportive marriage

  • If both fall in “Death Zones” or “Nadi conflict zones” → marital misfortune, widowhood risk

This Chakra often overrides standard Kuta matching.

5. Translator’s Commentary (Dr. U. S. Pulippani)

Dr. Pulippani underlines the supremacy of Chakras for “spot prediction”:

“When the Dasa is silent,
when the Transit is vague,
the Chakra speaks.

Among these, the Sarvatobhadra Chakra is a miniature universe—
it reveals danger before it manifests.”

He also warns:

“A single harmful Vedha from Mars or Saturn in the SBC can override a dozen positive Yogas.”

This explains why highly successful people sometimes face sudden dips, scandals, or illnesses despite strong charts.

Summary of Chapter 48

  • Sarvatobhadra Chakra: Master tool for real-time events.

  • Kalanala Chakras: Fire maps for danger, surgery, and crisis.

  • Tri–Tri–Vedha Chakra: Obstruction matrix for relationships and events.

  • Nara–Nari Chakra: Advanced tool for marriage prediction.

  • Key Insight: Chakras offer pinpoint timing where Dasas and Transits provide only broad frameworks.

    Sarvatobhadra Chakra

    (The “All-Round Auspicious” Diagram)

The Sarvatobhadra Chakra is one of the most powerful and sophisticated predictive tools recorded in Jathaka Sara Dheepa—a diagram capable of revealing subtle, moment-by-moment results that standard transit rules cannot detect.
The author calls this Chakra “a lamp in a dark room”, illuminating hidden layers of destiny that remain invisible in ordinary Gochara analysis.

Unlike simple transit evaluation based on the Moon sign, the Sarvatobhadra Chakra examines the effect of planetary motion on five pillars of human life:

  • Nakshatra (Birth Star)

  • Rasi (Moon Sign)

  • Tithi (Lunar Day)

  • Vara (Weekday)

  • Nama Akshara (First Letter of Name)

A single affliction in any of these zones can produce immediate, tangible events—favorable or destructive—depending on the nature of the piercing planet.

1. Construction of the Chakra

The Sarvatobhadra Chakra is drawn as a 10×10 square grid containing 81 boxes. The central portion is empty, representing the observer, while the outer squares hold the predictive elements.

A. Placement of the 28 Nakshatras

(Abhijit included)

The stars are arranged along the outermost ring of the square, distributed by direction:

  • East: Krittika, Rohini, Mrigasira, Ardra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Aslesha

  • South: Magha, Pūrva Phalguni, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha

  • West: Anuradha, Jyeshta, Moola, Pūrva Ashada, Uttara Ashada, Abhijit, Sravana

  • North: Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, P. Bhadrapada, U. Bhadrapada, Revati, Ashwini, Bharani

B. Placement of the Vowels (Swaras)

The 16 vowels—representing the starting syllable of a person's name—are positioned in diagonals and corners of the grid. When planets pierce these vowels, the person’s reputation, name, and public identity are directly affected.

C. Placement of the Rasis

The 12 zodiac signs are mapped as follows:

  • East: Taurus, Gemini, Cancer

  • South: Leo, Virgo, Libra

  • West: Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn

  • North: Aquarius, Pisces, Aries

D. Placement of Tithis and Weekdays

Tithis (Nanda, Bhadra, Jaya, Riktha, Purna) and Weekdays form the inner rows.
For example, Sunday and Tuesday—fiery days—appear in the East along with Nanda Tithis (1, 6, 11).

Together, these layers create a matrix where planets interact with every foundational component of human experience.

2. The Concept of Vedha (Piercing)

The essence of the Chakra is Vedha, meaning “piercing” or “obstruction.”
A planet positioned in a specific Nakshatra will cast an energy-ray onto another Nakshatra, vowel, or sign across the grid.

A. Three Types of Rays

Vedha depends on the speed of the planet:

  1. Savya (Left Aspect)
    — Used when a planet moves fast (Atichara).

  2. Sammukha (Front Aspect)
    — Used for normal motion.

  3. Apasavya (Right Aspect)
    — Used when a planet is retrograde (Vakra).

B. Planet-Specific Rules

  • Rahu & Ketu: Always retrograde → always give Right aspect.

  • Sun & Moon: Always direct → traditionally give Left aspect, though some traditions allow Front aspect.

Example

If a planet is transiting Bharani in the North:

  • It may cast a Front aspect on Magha (South),

  • A Left aspect on Revati (North),

  • A Right aspect on Krittika (East).

Thus, a single planetary position can influence multiple sensitive points at once.

3. Interpreting Vedha Results

Vedha can be beneficial or malefic depending on the planet involved.

A. Malefic Vedha

Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu

These cause obstruction, damage, anxiety, or danger.

  • Name Letter Pierced:
→ Loss of reputation, public insult, or business failure.

  • Tithi Pierced:
→ Fear, worry, or psychological instability.

  • Janma Nakshatra Pierced:
→ Illness, accidents, danger to life, medical crisis.

Intensity Scale

  • 1 Malefic Vedha: Anxiety

  • 2 Malefic Vedhas: Loss

  • 3 Malefic Vedhas: Disease

  • 4 Malefic Vedhas: Death-like suffering (or actual death)

This is one of the most precise danger-detection tools in astrology.

B. Benefic Vedha

Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Moon

These bring relief, healing, marriage, success, and prosperity.

  • A Benefic piercing the Name Letter
→ Fame, honors, invitations, or sudden windfall.

  • A Benefic piercing the Birth Star
→ Recovery from illness, protection during danger.

Even when malefics pierce a sensitive point, a simultaneous benefic Vedha can cancel or soften the result.

4. Special Applications

The Sarvatobhadra Chakra is one of the most practical tools for modern astrologers.
Dr. Pulippani emphasizes several applications:

A. Market Predictions

Certain Rasis correspond to commodities (Gold, Oil, Textiles).
If these Rasis are pierced by malefics → prices fall.
If pierced by benefics → prices rise.

This method is still used in financial astrology in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

B. Medical Astrology

  • If the Birth Star + the Star on the day of illness are both afflicted → critical danger.

  • If a benefic simultaneously casts Vedha → recovery is likely.

This makes the Chakra invaluable in assessing surgery, ICU conditions, or timing of medical interventions.

C. Elections, Leadership & War

When the first letter of a leader’s name or the nation’s name is pierced by Mars or Saturn:

  • Loss of power

  • Collapse of popularity

  • Danger, riots, or military tension

This system is used to predict:

  • Election outcomes

  • Political scandals

  • National crises

5. Prediction Checklist (Practical Method)

To analyze a transit using the Sarvatobhadra Chakra:

  1. Mark the current positions of all planets in the grid.

  2. Check their motion (fast, direct, retrograde).

  3. Identify Vedha targets:

    • Your Star

    • Your Name Letter

    • Your Rasi

    • Your Tithi

    • Weekday of the event

  4. Evaluate the nature of the piercing planet:

    • Saturn/Mars/Rahu/Sun → Obstruction, fear, loss, danger.

    • Jupiter/Venus/Moon/Mercury → Relief, gain, marriage, healing.

  5. Measure Intensities:

    • Count the number of malefics piercing the same point.

Summary of SBC

  • The Sarvatobhadra Chakra is the most comprehensive transit tool in Vedic Astrology.

  • It evaluates planetary influence on Star, Sign, Tithi, Weekday, and Name Letter.

  • Vedha (Piercing) is the key mechanism—malefics harm, benefics protect.

  • The Chakra is essential for danger prediction, medical astrology, elections, and financial forecasting.

  • When all other tools are silent, the Sarvatobhadra Chakra reveals the truth.
