Chapter 8 — Saturn (Shani)
Saturn (Shani) represents Karma, Structure, Labor, Vision, and Cunningness. In Lal Kitab, Saturn is the “Judge” who delivers the results of your past deeds. It is likened to a Snake (custodian of treasure) and is deeply connected to the construction of houses.

Saturn in House #1

The Wealthy Baron

Summary: “Childhood, youth, and old age are all good.” Contrary to popular belief, Saturn in the 1st House (the throne) is often excellent. You are like a king or a wealthy baron. You will accumulate property and wealth.

  • You will earn money through industry, iron, wood, or machinery.
  • Your property and assets will grow steadily.
  • If you consume alcohol or meat, you destroy your “Raja Yoga.”
Remedies & Precautions
  • Strictly: Do not drink alcohol or eat non-vegetarian food.
  • Do not tell lies; your word is your bond.
  • Bury a pot of “Surma” (Kajal) in a deserted place.
  • Offer sweet milk to the roots of a Banyan tree.
  • Serve monkeys (to please the Sun).

The Spiritual Treasurer

Summary: “Shelter of the Guru.” Saturn here behaves like Jupiter. You are a treasurer of wealth, but you must be spiritual. The more you pray or meditate, the more you earn.

  • You will have immense wealth that stays with the family.
  • You have a natural inclination towards religious knowledge.
  • “Snake in the treasure” – you have money but might be afraid to spend it.
Remedies & Precautions
  • Do not put oil on your forehead (forehead is Jupiter's place).
  • Do not disrespect monks or priests.
  • Go to a temple barefoot daily for 43 days.
  • Apply a tilak of curd or milk on your forehead.

The Brave Keeper

Summary: “Lions and Dogs.” You are brave and protective. This is a good position for physical strength and immunity. You are a self-made person who protects others.

  • “Drinking milk at night” is like feeding milk to a snake (poisonous result).

Summary: “Pen of the Creator.” Saturn is exalted (Digbali) here. You have immense power to create wealth and machinery. You are a protector of your partner.

  • “Lust destroys the magic pen.”

Summary: “Headquarters of Death.” Saturn here gives a long life (he pushes death away). However, your life moves slowly, like a slow-moving snake.

  • Do not walk barefoot.
  • Do not buy a house; construct it slowly yourself.

The Karmic Ancestor

Summary: “House Builder/Destroyer.” You carry the karma of three generations. If you are righteous, you build an empire; if cruel, you destroy the lineage.

  • “Blank paper” implies you might work hard but get little credit initially.

The Fate Writer

Summary: “Writer of Destiny.” Saturn here is extremely powerful. You decide your own fate. Your wealth depends entirely on your karma.

  • “Childlessness” is a risk if morals are low.

The Final Judge

Summary: “Comforts and the Eye.” Saturn here can give ultimate luxury or ultimate isolation. It usually indicates a private person who works behind the scenes.

  • Success in foreign lands or isolated places.
  • “Snake enters the hole” – you find peace in solitude.
  • “Eye of the snake” – eyesight issues or insomnia.

  • Do not tell lies.
  • Do not create a window in the back wall of your house.
  • Tie 12 almonds in a black cloth and keep them in an iron pot.
  • Establish a dark room in the house for storing tools/junk.
