Chapter Four: The Results of the Solar Course (Ayana)
1. Uttarayana (Northern Course)
१. प्रियायुतः सौख्य गुणान्वितश्च दीर्घायुराचारमतिः प्रवीणः ।
देवद्विजाचार्यपदानुरक्तः सौम्यायने जात नरो यशस्वी ॥
Priya-ayutah saukhya guna-anvitash-cha deergha-aayur-aachaara-matih praveenah.
Deva-dvija-aachaarya-pada-anuraktah saumya-ayane jaata naro yashasvee.
Meaning One born in the Saumya Ayana (Uttarayana / Northern Course of the Sun) is surrounded by loved ones, endowed with happiness and virtues, long-lived, righteous in conduct, skilled, devoted to the feet of Gods, Brahmins, and Teachers, and is famous.
2. Dakshinayana (Southern Course)
२. क्रूरः शठो रोगयुतप्रदेहः पापात्मकश्चौर्यरतः खलश्च ।
पौश्चल्यकृत्क्रूरमतिः शिशुश्च स्याद्दक्षिणायनजोऽतिनिद्रः ॥
Kruurah shatho roga-yuta-pradehah paapa-atmakash-chaurya-ratah khalash-cha.
Pauschalya-krit-kruura-matih shishush-cha syaad-dakshina-ayana-jo-ati-nidrah.
Meaning One born in the Dakshinayana (Southern Course of the Sun) is cruel, deceitful, has a diseased body, is sinful by nature, prone to theft, wicked, engages in loose morals (unchaste acts), has a cruel mind, and sleeps excessively.
॥ इति श्रीजातकसारदीपे अयनफलाध्यायश्चतुर्थः ॥
Iti Sri-Jataka-Sara-Deepe Ayana-phala-adhyaayash-chaturthah.
Thus ends the Fourth Chapter titled "Results of the Ayana" in the glorious Jathaka Sara Deepa.
